4th of July Fun!!!

Lots to share!! We had so much fun yesterday, and Katelynn had her run in with fame too.....

First off for the last five 4th of July's we spend our time in Boise at the Northwest Motorfest. It is the largest car show in the Northwest showing off anything motorized, old cars, new cars, fun cars, short cars, motorcycles...it's lots of fun. My dad is a car enthusiast and likes to show off his pride and joy, his baby a 1965 Buick Rivera. I will show you pics of it in a min.

First off, Katelynn spent the entire day yesterday with Na-Na, and Pa-Pa at the car show it's self, which we did not attend. While she was there she had the opportunity to meet a couple of famous people......who you might ask? Well do you all remember the TV show HAPPY DAYS??? Yes, HAPPY DAYS. She got to meet the FONZ himself, yes Henry Winkler, and Ralph Malph, Donny Most. Apparently from what I gathered Katelynn made such an impression on Henry. Autographs were $20. Katelynn got an autograph for Rick and I, which was wonderful.
But Na-Na tells me Henry really liked Katelynn. Apparently Katelynn proceeds to tell Henry that she wanted an autograph of her own, but she only had a dollar and some change. Henry grabs Katelynn by the chin and says "honey, you put that bag of yours up here and I will give you an autograph of your own" and Katelynn was like "for free" and he says "for free". He signed the bag YOU ARE LOVELY, Henry Winkler. He proceeds to tell Na-Na that Katelynn was very adorable and beautiful. My mom says he really did adore Katelynn. That he stated how beautiful she was more than once.
Here is Katelynn's bag, with Henry's autograph on it. Katelynn might not know who the FONZ was, but she does know Henry from recent movies he has starred in such as WATER BOY, CLICK, and a guest appearance in CHRISTMAS WITH DRAKE AND JOSH (a Disney TV show).
Katelynn discovered that Henry is also a children's book writer and she is interested in buying his book collection to read. He writes a series of books called Hank Zipzer. It follows a boy in his everyday life dealing with learning disabilities such as dyslexia. www.hankzipzer.com

It is nice to hear that there are actually actors out there who are real and genuine people and take the time to make such an impression on people.

Later that evening we met up with the family in Downtown Boise where the Motorfest puts on a CONTROLLED car cruise. They block off the downtown area of Boise so all the car enthusiasts can show of there cars, and people can bring there lawn chairs down to admire and spectate all the wonderful cars.

ABOVE: Front view of my dad's 1965 Buick Rivera.

BELOW: Side View of his baby.

BELOW: Nicholas and Rick getting ready to take a spin around the cruise in the car. This was Nicholas's favorite part, up until we lit up some fireworks later in the evening.

I also wanted to share a few of my favorite pics of my favorite cars.

Thesepics below were one of Nicholas's favorites. Someone had the idea to recreate a cartoon and bring it to life....This is the REAL TOW MATER from the Disney-Pixar's hit movie CARS..It was wonderfully creative.

We ended our night with my parents back at the fairgrounds where the car show was being held for fireworks.

Followed by a drive home, some fire works at home and a burnt toe from a sparkler it was a great day.

We hope you all had a great and wonderful 4th of July......celebrating our Freedom and Independence.

What a wonderful day for all of you, but especially for Katelynn. I can just hear Henry saying what he said to Katelynn!
